Job Description

  • Salary $76k - $79,500k
  • Permanent Full-Time 40 hours week
  • Role based in Welshpool, WA & Client Site

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Metallurgical Technician is responsible for conducting the bulk of day-to-day activities at onsite laboratories, Process Plants and Gold Rooms (where required), including but not limited to sample management tasks and testwork. The incumbent performs various procedures outlined by the metallurgists through safe work instructions

Responsibilities include, however, are not limited to:

• Undertake sample management tasks (labelling, receipting, inventory preparation, storage).
• Conduct cyclosizing & laser sizing analyses.
• Conduct routine gold recovery testwork inclusive of cyanide leach tests.
• Ensuring process control equipment such age density gauges, particle size indicators, Autosamplers are calibrated and are operational,
• Collaborating and assisting plant operators with the maintenance of process equipment,
• Collaborating and assisting Laboratory technicians to ensure data integrity,
• Assisting project metallurgists with survey sampling, collector trials, and Laboratory scaled test works,
• Data interpretation and reporting to metallurgists for accuracy and a fast response to any anomaly in the process plant
• Providing daily equipment performance updates,
• Generating comprehensive daily and weekly reports
• Daily reporting reagents dose rates,
• Data entry and concentrate handling.
• Gold room duties as required.
• At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Current “C” class Western Australian driver’s license.
  • Forklift certification.
  • First aid training.
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in the minerals processing / production / laboratory testing industries.
  • Knowledge and experience with various commodities and unit operations.
  • Experience with some metallurgical laboratory operations and /or testing operations.
  • An understanding of Occupational Health and Safety.
