Job Description

Great opportunity to join our Gladstone team as a Casual Coal Technician!

In this hands-on role, you will support the laboratory with a range of coal testing and sample preparation activities, including:

• Accurately performing routine physical coal testing and analysis
• Ensuring precision, traceability, and quality of prepared samples
• Receipting, recording, sorting, and storing coal samples
• Supporting preventative maintenance of laboratory and preparation equipment
• Assisting with shift planning, workflow coordination, and sample logistics
• Working in line with analytical methods, procedures, and Quality Systems
• Maintaining a safe and compliant working environment

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, semi-manual work in an industrial or laboratory setting. Full training and on-the-job support will be provided.

Qualifications

About you:

• Previous coal sampling, preparation, or testing experience is desirable but not essential
• Experience in a mineral laboratory or similar environment is an advantage
• Basic computer skills (Excel knowledge beneficial; G6 experience a plus but not required)
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Available to work casual day and afternoon shifts
