Position Status: Two (2) Full-time (40 hours/week) Permanent Position


The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is recruiting for a Mobile Learning Coordinator within the Children and Family Services Early Learning Program. Reporting to the Land-Based and Mobile Learning Supervisor, the Mobile Learning Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting the delivery of Métis-specific mobile learning initiatives across Alberta. This role supports the organization and on-the-ground delivery of cross-province programs that bring Métis culture and early learning experiences into communities. The Mobile Learning Coordinator works closely with internal teams, community members, Elders, Knowledge Holders, and external partners to ensure programming is culturally grounded, community-informed, and responsive to local needs. This position requires a collaborative, adaptable individual who is comfortable traveling and supporting hands-on program delivery in diverse community settings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support program design to ensure activities are culturally grounded, inclusive, and aligned with Métis identity and values.
  • Identify opportunities to improve programming and suggest innovative approaches.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support the delivery of cross-province mobile learning initiatives and traveling programs.
  • Coordinate logistics including scheduling, travel, materials, and site preparation for mobile learning activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Métis families, Elders, Knowledge Holders, communities, and internal and external partners.
  • Attend and support mobile learning initiatives to ensure safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate program delivery.
  • Collaborate with partners to integrate Métis culture, traditions, and land-based knowledge into programming, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, values, and community needs.
  • Support program evaluation, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with Métis families, communities, and internal and external partners.
  • Ensure programs comply with safety, accessibility, and quality standards.
  • Provide updates, reports, and recommendations to the Land-Based and Mobile Learning Supervisor.
  • Participate in and support the overall strategic direction of the Children and Family Services department and Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.


Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge and understanding of Métis culture, history, values, and land-based ways of knowing.
  • Strong program coordination and facilitation skills, with the ability to design, deliver, and support initiatives from implementation to evaluation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, contributing ideas, supporting co-workers, and sharing responsibility for program delivery.
  • Culturally responsive, compassionate, and respectful approach when working with Métis families, communities, and colleagues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal teams and external community partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and database applications. Meticulous records maintenance skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of ethics, with the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including professional email etiquette and the ability to contribute to clear program documentation, reports, and resource materials.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.

 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Early Learning, Human or Social Services, or related field (equivalent experiences will be considered).
  • Two to three years’ experience in a similar role is an asset.
  • Experience supporting or delivering community-based, mobile, or land-based programming.
  • Indigenous Awareness Training is an asset.


Other Requirements

  • Position is based in Edmonton; in-office presence is required.
  • Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
  • Must be willing to travel within Alberta and work irregular hours, as required. Travel is a key requirement making up 50% of the role.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • A current Criminal Record Check is required, in addition to a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check.
