TITLE: Kids Minister

REPORTS TO: Director of Family Discipleship

DEPARTMENT: Family Discipleship

SUMMARY: The Kids Minister oversees our Storyline Kids Ministry, leaders, & staff. The Kids Minister will be responsible for helping align Storyline Kids’ ministry (birth- 5th grade) with the overall mission, vision, values, and strategies of the family discipleship team and the church.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implement Storyline’s vision of coming alongside families to disciple kids (birth-5th)

• Execute the scope and sequence for key discipleship outcomes within Storyline Kids
• Champion Family Discipleship Milestones within Storyline Kids
• Come alongside the Director of Family Discipleship to develop and implement a strategy to equip parents to become primary disciple makers at home
  
  

Oversee Storyline Kids

• Lead Storyline Kids staff team
• Manage the annual budget for Storyline Kids
• Maintain excellent and clear communication with parents and families
• Ensure leaders and families are loved and cared for by maintaining regular contact with them
• Execute events that provide discipleship and community outreach opportunities throughout the year (Ex. Leader Training, Kids Camp, etc.)
• Build ministry capacity through the recruitment and training of lay leaders and volunteers to ensure the effective implementation of ministry objectives, goals, and action plans
• Rotate with the kids team to schedule on weekends
  

Oversee Curriculum within Storyline Kids

• Work alongside the Director of Family Discipleship to create and implement curriculum in Storyline Kids, including but not limited to:
  • 40 Key Events
  • Alignment series
  • Kids Camp
  • Other discipleship tools

First Time Storyline Kids Families

• Manage First Time Guest Registration and first time guest follow-up, including profile editing
  
  

Serve on the Family Discipleship Team

• Attend Storyline staff meetings and staff-related events
• Attend and give input to team meetings within family discipleship
• Ensure we are in compliance with all abuse prevention policies

RELATIONSHIP WITH THE STORYLINE TEAM:

• I report to: Director of Family Discipleship
• I receive input from: Director of Family Discipleship
  
• I work with: Family Discipleship Team
• I lead: Storyline parents of kids, Storyline kids, kids ministry volunteers
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Member of Storyline Church
• A daily pursuit of Christian Maturity
• Agree with and live in alignment with Storyline Statement of Faith and values
• High capacity and flexibility
• Confidence and initiative to anticipate needs within this ministry lane and execute accordingly
• Knowledge of developmental and faith stages for preschoolers and children, and the ability to strategically choose and implement appropriate programming for those stages is essential
• Experience in a church leading in the spiritual formation area of children, and/or Christian education is preferred
• Decisive and proven leader with the ability to encourage, empower, and coach other leaders and teams in the field of education
• Organized, strong delegator and follow-through, ability to cast and execute discipleship vision
• Ability to develop and organize effective ministry teams made up of staff and volunteer leaders
• Ability to create a positive and intentional leadership culture 
• Proficiency in GSuite, Microsoft Office, and Planning Center
