Position Overview
Home is more than a place—it is where much of life unfolds. We are seeking a contract writer and photographer to create a visually rich, inspiring book that explores the beauty, meaning, and everyday experiences of home through photography, storytelling, Scripture, and biblical reflection. This project should encourage readers to see God's grace and presence in the ordinary rhythms of life, offering hope and inspiration for a variety of life stages, family structures, and living situations. The strongest proposals will demonstrate a compelling visual vision and a thoughtful approach to integrating photography with encouraging, Christ-centered content.
Scope of Work
- Conceptualize, photograph, and write a highly visual book (approximately 20,000–30,000 words)
- Develop content that thoughtfully integrates photography, Scripture, personal reflection, storytelling, and biblical encouragement
- Collaborate closely with the editorial team through multiple rounds of revision
- Work with the design and editorial teams to ensure strong integration between visual and written content
Commitment
Contract, per-project basis.
Compensation
Compensation is determined based on project scope and complexity.
Additional Information
Contractors are engaged based on the needs of specific projects and are not guaranteed ongoing or full-time work. Participation in meetings, workshops, or collaborative sessions may be requested depending on the project timeline.

Proposal Requirements
Important: Proposals that do not include all required components listed below cannot be reviewed.
Please submit all materials in a single PDF (not a Word Doc or Google Doc) that includes:
1. Title and Subtitle
2. Controlling Idea (1–2 sentences)
3. One-Paragraph Summary
Provide a concise overview of the book’s purpose, scope, structure, and tone.
4. Target Audience Description (One of the Most Important Sections)Who this book is specifically for
- Their stage or season of life
- The particular struggles, questions, or longings they are experiencing
- Why this book matters to them now
- Tip: Specificity is essential. Broad descriptions such as “Christian women” or “believers” are not sufficient.
5. Comparable Titles (2–3 from the Past 5 Years)
Identify 2–3 comparable books published within the last five years and explain:
- How your book overlaps with each one
- How it is meaningfully distinct in approach, audience, tone, or theological emphasis
6. Author Bio
Explain what uniquely qualifies you to write this book, including:
- Education
- Ministry, counseling, academic, or professional experience
- Subject-matter expertise
- Lived experience relevant to the topic (if appropriate)
- Previous publishing or writing experience
7. Detailed Chapter Outline
Provide a working table of contents that includes:
- Chapter titles
- The main idea of each chapter and how it supports the controlling idea of the book
8. Front and Back Matter (Optional)
Describe any supplemental materials (e.g., photography, illustrations, reflection questions, discussion guides, recommended resources, liturgies, appendices, etc.).
9. Timeline and Specifications
Include:
- Current manuscript status (idea stage, in progress, complete, etc.)
- Estimated total word count (typically 45,000–75,000 words)
- Anticipated manuscript delivery date
10. Other Book Ideas (Optional)
If you have additional book concepts that may be a fit for The Daily Grace Co., please include a brief description of each idea (1–3 sentences per concept). While these ideas will not be considered part of the current proposal, they may be considered for future publishing opportunities.
