Job Description

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate, early in their career and eager to support leading companies and governments in navigating the critical minerals and metals markets.

The Research Analyst will be responsible for the collection, automation, cleaning, analysis and validation of data related to critical minerals and metals supply chains. Your efforts will make a real difference in helping Fastmarkets to achieve its ambitious growth plans and expand its critical minerals and metals coverage.

You will be joining a dynamic global team of researchers dedicated to understanding the rapidly evolving critical minerals and metals markets. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and innovative environment, have a can-do attitude and can juggle a wide variety of tasks and projects. An exceptional candidate will look for opportunities to automate data collection and processing workflows, improving the speed and scalability of our research output.

You will have the chance to work closely with commodity analysts, consultants, project managers and data scientists — building valuable skills that can help you grow into one of these disciplines over time.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Collect, maintain, and produce data to support understanding of critical minerals and metals production across key regions
  • Monitor regulatory developments — trade policies, tariffs, incentives, and environmental regulations — and analyse their impact on the critical minerals and metals value chain
  • Map and analyse market relationships, including ownership structures, offtake agreements, and key supply-chain dynamics across the critical minerals and metals industry
  • Collaborate with the consulting team to provide data, analysis and research support for client-facing advisory projects
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate data collection, cleaning and validation processes using scripting, APIs or other tools

Qualifications

We recruit talented, dynamic people with diverse backgrounds and experiences, all united by a belief in our mission to provide the world’s leading and most trusted price reporting, events, and intelligence service for the markets we serve. We’re proud to be an equal opportunities employer and are committed to creating a fully inclusive workplace, where everyone feels able to participate and contribute meaningfully.

If you are open-minded, curious, resilient, solutions-oriented and committed to promoting equality, then read on.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.

  • Degree or experience in a relevant discipline (geology, mining, metallurgy, engineering, industrial manufacturing, economics or business)
  • Strong primary and secondary research skills with the ability to critically assess data quality
  • Proficiency with common office and productivity tools; experience with databases, scripting languages, or AI-assisted workflows is a strong plus
  • Experience or familiarity with the mining industry, manufacturing, production and recycling
  • Foundational understanding of business analysis and economic concepts
  • Verbal and written English fluency
  • Comfortable working in a diverse, multicultural team
  • Proactive, pragmatic and resilient

If you're excited about the role but your experience, skills or qualifications don't perfectly align, we encourage you to apply anyway.
