About the Opportunity

The Associate, Project Director sits within the Community Capacity Building Department and reports to the Senior Project Director, Transformation and Strategic Initiatives. This role supports the planning and granting team by coordinating complex initiatives that require strong project management, cross-departmental collaboration, and consistent follow-through. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to 

Coordinating and executing strategic initiatives 
• Support the coordination and execution of multiple concurrent projects originating within the planning and granting team, using established project management approaches while adapting to scale and complexity 
• Coordinate work across internal stakeholders including Operations, IT, Security, Finance, Legal, Marketing, and program teams 
• Support cross-organizational initiatives (for example, Jewish Journey) that require sustained coordination across development, implementation, and ongoing evolution 

Project execution and coordination 
• Manage structured projects with approved plans, timelines, governance, and risk controls 
• Coordinate tasks, dependencies, and deliverables across teams with a high degree of independence 
 
Process improvement and organizational effectiveness 
• Support consistent project practices, tools, and documentation across initiatives 
• Provide project management support on complex initiatives that do not have formal project management roles 
• Help teams clarify scope, sequencing, timelines, and accountabilities to support effective delivery 

Risk Management 
• Identifying and managing delivery risks and escalating issues as appropriate 

 

Reporting, accountability, and learning 
• Prepare clear project updates, materials, and summaries for the Senior Project Director and other stakeholders as needed 
• Monitor progress against agreed milestones and outcomes 
• Support continuous improvement through lessons learned and the refinement of practices 

Future-oriented support 
• Support new and emerging initiatives as planning and granting priorities evolve 
• Provide project structure and coordination for initiatives that require ongoing adaptation beyond initial implementation 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience working in project management.
  • Experience in leading projects and project teams.
  • Solid understanding of core project management disciplines, including schedule management, cost control, risk management, and project reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with project data to support reporting and decision-making.
  • Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Proficient knowledge and use of project management software and tools. Experience with Wrike is preferred.

This is a full-time permanent position, Salary Range: $79,000-85,000  annually, based on experience.
