About this role

Company Description

United Infrastructure (UI) is a dynamic and rapidly expanding business, focused on delivering critical infrastructure projects. In early 2025 the UI Energy division (formally ULIS) was awarded a two-stage ECI engineering, procurement and construction project aimed at reducing emissions at Wormington Compressor Station, Gloucestershire. The EPC project scope includes the design, Balance of Plant (BOP) procurement, construction and commissioning of a new 15MW gas turbine compressor site, adjacent to the existing compressor site at Wormington.

The project forms part of National Gas’s MCPD (Medium Combustion Plant Directive) programme to replace existing compressor units with new, state‑of‑the‑art equipment. UI is delivering the works as the main contractor, with detailed design and engineering undertaken by its specialist process and energy sub‑contractor, Kent. The gas turbine and compressor package is being procured directly by National Gas from Baker Hughes.

Job Description

This is an EPC contractor, project-based role, reporting to the Project Technical Director. The Engineering Manager will provide single‑point leadership, assurance, and accountability for all engineering activities, ensuring that the design is safe, compliant, buildable, and fully aligned with the project’s contractual and delivery objectives. The role spans the project lifecycle, from detailed design and pre‑construction engineering, through construction support, and onward to commissioning and final handover.

Managing the contractor’s technical team and working in close partnership with the subcontract design organisation, the Client Design Coordinator, and subject‑matter experts (SMEs), the Engineering Manager will act as a central conduit for informed, timely, and aligned engineering decision‑making across the project.
