Job Description


The Manager of Respiratory Care is responsible for the 24-hour management of the Respiratory Care Department and services. This includes short and long term planning, program and staff development, resource and budget management, quality monitoring and improvement, and evaluation of policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Maintains clinical and management knowledge to advance the profession and utilizes team leadership within the department to accomplish these goals. Works in cooperation and under the direction of the Medical Director of Respiratory Care/ ICU to ensure regulations and accreditation standards are maintained. The Manager practices patient and family centered care in concert with our values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence standards.

  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates the ability to guide and direct others toward goal setting. Assumes leadership position to ensure seamless, quality, family centered care throughout the health-illness continuum. Actively participates and leads initiatives to improve patient and hospital operations. Delegates effectively by entrusting responsibility to others.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Bachelor’s degree; substantial relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree as appropriate.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

Three years of progressively responsible experience, at least one of which must have involved supervisor/managerial responsibility. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

 

Licensed by TDH to practice Respiratory Care, and registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Basic CPR

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

 

Must be able to write and speak effectively in English. Must demonstrate interpersonal skills with all levels of the healthcare team
