PETA Asia is dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. We operate under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in factory farms, laboratories, the clothing trade, and the entertainment industry.

PETA Asia works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

Job Description

To write articles, letters, op-eds, blog posts, and other pieces for both in-house and external publishing venues to help promote the goals of the organization

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Write op-eds and columns about animal rights issues
• Create written content uniquely designed for PETA’s blog and accounts on various social media platforms
• Draft reports, leaflets, and correspondence
• Prepare PETA news releases, advisories, and media alerts to go out to the media in Asia
• Edit other staffers’ writing
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

• Some professional writing experience preferred, which may include writing for newspapers, magazines, other publications, or the internet
• A thorough knowledge of animal rights issues
• Demonstrated exceptional written communication skills in English
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proven ability to handle many tasks simultaneously
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
• Demonstrated support for PETA’s philosophy and the ability to advocate for the organization’s positions on issues professionally
• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
• Must be based in the Philippines
