The clinic operates with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team including a family practice nurse, dietician, pharmacist, physiotherapist, and social worker, supported by excellent clerical staff and a fantastic receptionist. The practice uses the Med Access EMR and maintains highly organized charts, providing a smooth and efficient workflow. The team of seven physicians offers a well-rounded, supportive environment and a strong commitment to comprehensive family medicine.

Job Description

Elmsdale Medical Center is seeking a Family Physician to provide Locum coverage for the following dates:

• July 13-17, 2026
• August 17-21, 2026

Locum physicians provide coverage for family practices, including inpatient and nursing home care, as well as specialist hospital and office coverage as requested. Compensation includes a minimum daily income guarantee of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 for half-day), with additional earnings if shadow billings exceed this amount. Travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), are reimbursed, along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.

Qualifications

• All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
• All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
• Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
