Job Description
Duties and responsibilities:Â
Ensure the operation room is prepared for the surgery, with all operating room equipment maintained in good condition and functioning properlyÂ
Assist the surgeons during surgery, and coordinate with surgical techniciansÂ
Assist the anaesthetist before, during and post-surgeryÂ
Responsible for sterility of the operating room maintaining high standards of infection controlÂ
Observing the patient during a surgical procedure to detect possible complications and/or breaks in sterile techniqueÂ
Implementing aseptic techniques at all the time Â
Providing emergency equipment and supplies throughout when requiredÂ
Collaborate efficiently and effectively with multidisciplinary team Â
Cleaning or directing the cleaning and sterilization of contaminated instruments, equipment and supplies and re-sterilizing unused suppliesÂ
Cleaning of the operating room and clinical waste management after each OperationÂ
Contribute to Departmental and Facility logistic management and administration as required.Â
Participate fully in Departmental and Facility training and exercises.  Support the delivery and administration of such training as required.Â
Participate fully in Departmental and Facility Quality and Assurance activities.  Support the delivery and administration of such Q & A activities.Â
Qualifications
Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in ODP with current registration/licence to practiceÂ
At least 5years formal work experience as an ODP / Theatre nurseÂ
Current ACLS/ALS certificationÂ
Medical currency, i.e. proven record of working as an ODP in their hospital setting within the last twelve (12) months prior of a deployment to the Mission, demonstrating involvement in at least 3 days a week, on average, during this period. Â
