Bay Flats Lodge is seeking a Duck Hunting and Fishing Guide who is looking for an outstanding career opportunity that offers a rewarding work environment on a winning team. We're looking for a professional guide who can assist us with duck hunting and bay fishing. If you just want to duck hunt, but not fish, then that is alright also.
Job Description
At Bay Flats Lodge, the successful duck hunting and coastal fishing guide is a professional and licensed waterfowl hunter and saltwater angler who provides knowledge, guidance, and accompanies hunters and anglers during their hunting and fishing adventures while at the lodge. A Bay Flats Lodge guide ensures each guest is attended to in an appropriate manner ensuring consistently high levels of safety, quality, service, and customer satisfaction:
- Maintain a clean and professional personal appearance at all times.
- Greet guests in a professional and friendly manner on a daily basis.
- Possess knowledge and use of all types of duck hunting and saltwater fishing equipment, tools, and firearms.
- Assist duck hunters and anglers as needed, and ensure safety of all guests at all times.
- Know and enforce all state and federal fish and wildlife management practices with guests at all times.
- Build, install, clean, paint, repair, and grass duck blinds as needed.
- Maintain proper appearance of duck decoys - repair/replace as necessary.
- Maintain clean and operable vessel at all times.
- Maintain clean and operable fishing equipment at all times.
- Operation of personal pickup truck, hunting/fishing boat(s), and firearms per state and federal laws.
- Ensure lodge-provided boat lunches and drinking water are secured prior to departure each morning.
- Ensure that boat lunch and drinking water containers are returned to the lodge after use on a daily basis.
- Provide proper clean up after each trip.
- Possess the ability to react quickly during emergencies.
Requirements of the Position
- Must own a shallow water bay boat that operates effectively in the middle Texas coast environment.
- Exhibit knowledge and experience of navigating area waters - San Antonio Bay, Espiritu Santo Bay, Mesquite Bay, etc.
- Possess knowledge of the various duck and saltwater fish species available along the middle portion of the Texas coast.
- Must be very personable - must enjoy working and communicating with guests and lodge staff, maintain a positive attitude, and portray extraordinarily good manners at all times.
- Experienced with guiding groups of 1-5 hunting and fishing clients.
- Must be responsible and accountable - able to show up for scheduled charters without fail.
- Possess airboat preferred, or be highly qualified in airboat operation.
- Possess all required Federal and State credentials - all must be current and up to date:
- USCG OUPV License
- USCG First-Aid + CPR Certification
- USCG Medical Certificate
- TPWD Guide License
- TPWD Saltwater Fishing License
- Valid State Boat Registration
- Drug Consortium Membership
- Boat Insurance Policy (Commercial Marine Insurance Binder with minimum $300K liability + Bay Flats Lodge must be listed as additional insured)
- TWIC card
- Automobile Driver License
