Solid Waste Inspector


The Solid Waste Inspector will have the opportunity to work with dozens of clients and at various transfer station, landfill, processing, composting, and recycling facilities throughout Massachusetts. The inspector will also have the opportunity to support the permitting and operational programs associated with these facilities. This position will be 25%-50% in the field, and 50%-75% reporting/office-type work.


Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct Massachusetts solid waste facility inspections and reporting.
  • Assist clients with MassDEP annual reporting.
  • Assist clients with Quarterly MPS reporting.
  • Effectively communicate with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with preparation of various technical project reports and permit applications, including Operations and Maintenance Plans, Waste Ban Compliance Plans, Closure Plans, MassDEP permit modification and Site Suitability applications, MEPA filings (ENF, EIR, NPC), License Applications, etc.
  • Self-manage inspection and reporting schedule and meet regulatory reporting deadlines.


Essential Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate is a self-directed, results-oriented individual with a high level of enthusiasm, passion for the work and the following qualifications:

  • BA/BS required in Environmental, Engineering, Geology, or similar scientific field.
  • Current MassDEP Third-party Inspector. Asbestos Inspector licensure a plus.
  • At least 3+ years of experience with solid waste inspections and reporting and operations, design, and/or permitting.
  • Effective time-management skills and self-directed.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.


Reports to:  Director of Solid Waste


Location:  Sagamore Beach, MA


Pay Range:  $90,0000 to $130,000
