Mekanika is a leading operator in the Building and Engineering Services Industry, specialising in mechanical and electrical contracting, HVAC solutions, lifts and escalators, industrial products and facilities management. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a reliable and experienced individual to join our team.

Job Description

Working as part of an existing team, the selected candidate would be expected to perform the following duties:

• Installation of small and large diameter plumbing pipework of various materials;
• PPR and HDPE fusion weld type pipework installations;
• Galvanised or black steel pipe-work installations using quick coupling, Victaulic and or thread pipework.
• Setting up valves and balance systems;
• Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair, according to specifications;
• Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, or fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers or levels;
• Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to the required specifications;
• Inspect, examine, or test installed systems or pipelines, using pressure gauge or other methods;
• Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks;
• Anchor steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place;
• Repair or remove and replace system components;
• Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings, using hand or power tools;
• Installation of bathroom fittings, such as mixers, toilets, wash hand basins, showers etc.
• Operate pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors;
• To carry out the required pre-commissioning tests and run of pumps or equipment;

Qualifications

The selected candidate will preferably:

• Have previous work experience working on mechanical installations in the Building Services sector;
• Have a good understanding of technical drawings;
• Be highly professional with a proactive approach;
• Possess excellent organizational and communication skills;
• Be a team player willing to work in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment;
• Be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
