Port Engineer

Company Description

An expanding Marine Company with offices located in Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja hereby invites qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacant positions in the company.

Job Description

• Design, develop and take responsibility for the installation of ship machinery and related equipment including propulsion machines and power supply systems.
• Perform monitoring activities in order to ensure that ships conform to international regulations and standards for life saving equipments and pollution preventatives.
• Investigates machinery causalities to determine cause, and advises ship’s officers in methods of operation to prevent recurrence of causality or mal-operation.
• Inspects machinery, equipment, or spaces outlined in work request, draws up job specifications and obtains bids from contractors or shipyards to perform repairs.
• Coordinates repair and maintenance functions.
• Cooperates with regulatory bodies to ensure the requirements for alterations, repair or modifications are kept at minimum cost consistent with safety.

Qualifications

Chief Engineer- Valid Certificate for Competency (COC) valid STCW certification, Valid Seaman’s book with evidence of minimum three (3) years experience as Chief Engineer, Valid passport and Medical Certificate.

2nd Engineer- Valid Certificate for Competency (COC) valid STCW certification, Valid Seaman’s book with evidence of minimum three (3) years experience as 2nd Engineer, Valid passport and Medical Certificate.

Chief Mate- Valid Certificate for Competency (COC) valid STCW certification, Valid Seaman’s book with evidence of minimum three (3) years experience as Chief Mate, Valid passport and Medical Certificate.

2nd Mate - Valid Certificate for Competency (COC) valid STCW certification, Valid Seaman’s book with evidence of minimum three (3) years seagoing experience as 2nd Mate, Valid passport and Medical Certificate.

Bosun- Valid Certificate for Competency (COC) valid STCW certification, Valid Seaman’s book with evidence of minimum three (3) years  seagoing experience as Bosun, Valid passport and Medical Certificate.

A.B- Valid Certificate for Competency (COC) valid STCW certification, Valid Seaman’s book with evidence of minimum three (3) years  seagoing experience as Able Seaman, Valid passport and Medical Certificate.

Oiler - Valid Certificate for Competency (COC) valid STCW certification, Valid Seaman’s book with evidence of minimum three (3) years  seagoing experience as Oiler, Valid passport and Medical Certificate.

Electrician- Valid Certificate for Competency (COC) valid STCW certification, Valid Seaman’s book with evidence of minimum three (3) years  seagoing experience as Electrician, Valid passport and Medical Certificate.
