Job Description

This position serves as Family Practice Physician for NATIVE HEALTH. This position is responsible for the delivery of family oriented medical care services as well as providing general professional guidance of primary care staff.  Work performance is reviewed for conformance to policies, procedures and practices related to integrated family health care delivery.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Provides comprehensive primary patient care including prevention, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment of acute and chronic conditions, and follow-up services to patients under his/her care within the scope of practice of family medicine.
  2. Documents all patient-provider interactions following health care standards.
  3. Participates as an active member of an integrated patient centered team.
  4. Provides oversight of Physician Assistants.  
  5. Supports the organization as needed. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Strong knowledge of current evidence-based family medicine guidelines.
  2. Skills in providing diagnostic, preventive, and/or therapeutic services to patients.
  3. Knowledge of public health, community health, and population health.
  4. Ability to work effectively with staff members who have a variety of backgrounds and training.
  5. Ability to accomplish the quality and quantity of work expected within set limits of cost and time.
  6. Ability to plan own work and carry out assignments effectively.
  7. Ability to communicate with others effectively both orally and in writing in working out solutions to problems or questions relating to work.
  8. Proficient with computer based applications such as Microsoft Office.
  9. Ability to maintain patient medical records and utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) and associated technologies in said maintenance.
  10. Ability to establish rapport and gain the confidence of others.
  11. Ability to function as a health care delivery team member.
  12. Ability to assess quality patient care.
  13. Ability to provide cross coverage at NATIVE HEALTH clinic locations as needed.
  14. Must be able to work with confidential material without betraying the trust of patients, families, or the agency.
  15. Knowledge of the cultural and social backgrounds of the Native American and under or uninsured population.
  16. Demonstrate adherence to principles of confidentiality, scientific/academic integrity, informed consent, and ethical practice.
  17. Skill in providing excellent customer service and support; organizing and prioritizing workload.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Completion of an accredited medical school, internship and completion of the certification examination by the medical board of examiners.
  2. Must have a permanent and unrestricted license to practice medicine or osteopathy in Arizona.   
  3. Must have current board certification in family practice and maintain certification.
  4. Must have current medication dispensing license (DEA).
  5. Experience and training must have been progressive and responsible, demonstrating good knowledge of current principles, practices, methods, and techniques in the field of medicine.
  6. Three years of experience in an outpatient family practice or comparable setting is preferred. Experience in a community health center setting is preferred.
  7. Current BLS certification is required.
  8. Current ACLS certification is preferred.

Standard Employment Requirements

  1. Must possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (within 30 days of hire if applicant is from out-of-state) with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license during employment. Must be insurable under NATIVE HEALTH’s liability auto policy.
  2. Must pass a criminal background check and obtain a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment and retain a valid card while employed with NATIVE HEALTH.
  3. Must pass substance abuse testing upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
  4. Must provide an updated immunization (IZ) record at the time of employment.
  5. Must have a current (within 12 months) Tuberculosis (TB) skin report upon employment and provide an annual update.
