Video Lead – Elevate the Craft, Define the Cinematic Vision

About BJAK

We build superior application platforms globally with the mission of creating successful businesses while contributing positively to society by making it more efficient.

We developed the first and leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia to digitize the insurance industry. The platform currently serves over 8 million users across the region.

We are continuing our mission by building new, superior applications in emerging use cases as applications become increasingly integrated with AI.

Our team is densely talented, highly motivated, and focused on engineering and product excellence within a very flat organization. All members are expected to be hands-on and to contribute directly to the company’s mission.

About the Role

The Video Lead is a senior creative and technical powerhouse responsible for driving BJAK’s video direction across all channels. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution — you’ll direct shoots, act as DOP when needed, and guide end-to-end production from concept to final delivery.

You’ll lead a small but ambitious production team, collaborate with creatives across departments, and shape the visual identity that millions will see. From commercials to festive films to social content, your work will define the brand’s moving image.

What You’ll Do

Lead & Elevate

  • Guide and mentor a videographer and video producer, ensuring creative and technical excellence.

  • Set visual direction for video projects, campaigns, and brand initiatives.

  • Provide feedback, oversee quality, and drive continuous improvement across the team.

Direct & Create

  • Lead in-house productions — social videos, commercials, festive campaigns, long-form content, and more.

  • Serve as director for key projects, shaping storytelling, performance direction, and visual style.

  • Step in as DOP when needed, handling camera operation, lighting, framing, and overall cinematography.

Plan & Execute

  • Translate ideas into shot lists, storyboards, production plans, and technical requirements.

  • Conduct location scouting, test shoots, and previsualization to ensure smooth production.

  • Manage timelines, logistics, resources, and equipment to ensure seamless execution.

Craft & Refine

  • Work closely with editors, motion designers, and sound designers during post-production.

  • Set standards for colour grading, sound, pacing, and visual clarity.

  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to ensure every final output is polished and brand-aligned.

Innovate & Push Boundaries

  • Experiment with new shooting styles, cinematic techniques, and storytelling formats.

  • Champion new ideas, concepts, and production methods that raise the creative bar.

  • Keep BJAK’s video output fresh, bold, and visually distinctive.

Optimize & Manage

  • Maximize quality even with limited budget, crew, or time.

  • Suggest cost-efficient production approaches and creative solutions.

  • Maintain and manage all video equipment to ensure readiness and reliability.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 7 years in video production with a diverse showreel (commercial, social, documentary, cinematic).

  • Strong leadership experience guiding small to mid-sized production teams.

  • Expertise as a director, cinematographer, and visual storyteller.

  • Deep knowledge of cameras, lenses, lighting, grip, and on-set workflows.

  • Solid understanding of video fundamentals — composition, movement, colour, sound, pacing.

  • Experience in post-production (editing, colour grading, sound, motion).

  • Problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments.

  • Open to feedback, iterative, and committed to high creative standards.

  • Passionate about producing standout work that cuts through the noise.

Why Join BJAK

  • Shape the cinematic and creative direction of a fast-growing Southeast Asian brand.

  • Work directly with leadership and influence high-exposure video content.

  • High autonomy, real ownership, and the chance to build impactful visual stories.

  • A collaborative, innovative environment where bold ideas are encouraged.

  • Grow your career while doing meaningful, high-impact creative work.
