About this role

DTE is building step-change technology for one of the world’s largest industrial sectors: metals production.

We are now scaling from individual deployments to plant-wide solutions with leading aluminum producers globally. To support this next phase, we are looking for a Senior Development Engineer who wants to work on hard, real-world industrial technology and help shape the future of metals production.

Our patented technology gives aluminum producers real-time visibility into the elemental composition of liquid metal during production — something the industry has historically not been able to do reliably. This creates the data foundation for real-time process control, AI-driven optimization, higher recycling rates, lower emissions, and eventually more autonomous metals manufacturing.

The Senior Development Engineer will be part of the team developing DTE’s measurement devices and sampling solutions — the hardware and control foundation for the intelligence layer we are building on top. This is a hands-on engineering role at the intersection of control systems, electrical design, industrial automation, product development, and experimental testing. The work is practical, technically demanding, and directly connected to equipment that operates in harsh industrial environments.

The ideal candidate is proactive, independent, and technically strong, but also comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult engineering problems, can move between concept development and hands-on testing, and has strong judgment around quality, reliability, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive product innovation, experimentation, and testing of DTE’s measurement and sampling solutions.
  • Develop and improve functionality in DTE’s real-time liquid metal analysis platform.
  • Develop control software for industrial equipment and measurement systems.
  • Participate in electrical equipment selection, electrical design, and system integration.
  • Support risk assessments, design reviews, and failure mode and effects analysis.
  • Provide third-level technical support and lead failure analysis when needed.
  • Work closely with R&D, production, installation, and service teams to improve reliability, manufacturability, and field performance.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • Relevant university degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Automation, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in embedded systems, control systems, automation, or industrial equipment development.
  • Experience with PLC programming, C++, or similar control / embedded software environments.
  • Experience with electrical systems, instrumentation, sensors, industrial automation, or harsh-environment equipment is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills and a practical problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work hands-on with prototypes, testing, troubleshooting, and product improvement.
  • Strong focus on safety, reliability, and quality.

Why DTE

DTE is not building another incremental industrial tool. We are solving a fundamental blind spot in one of the world’s largest industries: metals producers cannot optimize what they cannot measure in real time.

Our technology creates the foundation for real-time process control, industrial AI, higher recycling rates, lower emissions, and eventually autonomous metals manufacturing. The company is entering a major scale-up phase, and the engineers joining now will have a direct impact on the product, the technology platform, and how this category develops globally.

DTE’s core values are purpose, excellence, and empowerment. We are looking for people who are driven, resilient, ambitious, and motivated by building technology with real industrial impact.

The application deadline is 15th of June 2026.

We encourage people of all genders to apply and look forward to receiving your application.

DTE is committed to being an inclusive workplace. We aim to create an environment where employees feel empowered, supported, and able to do their best work.
