Moderated Video Data Collection (Indoor Study) - San Francisco

Project Overview 

We are seeking participants for a large-scale, in-person moderated video data collection study. 

This is a paid indoor study where participants will record short video sessions using a secure data collection app on client-provided devices. A trained moderator will guide you throughout the process. 

The goal is to collect high-quality video data to help improve AI systems in a responsible, inclusive, and representative way. 

What You’ll Be Asked To Do 

Live Session (Unmasked) 

• Record one short video (15–20 seconds). 

• Perform simple head movements. 

• Record at multiple distances from the device. 

• Submit portrait photos of yourself (used to generate masks). 

• Each participant may complete one Live Session only. 

Spoof Session (Masked) 

• Record short videos using printed or digital face masks. 

• Complete recordings under different lighting, distance, and framing conditions. 

• Participants may complete multiple Spoof Sessions using different masks. 

All sessions: 

• Take place indoors only. 

• Follow specific lighting and positioning guidelines. 

• Are recorded on secure, client-provided devices. 

Diversity & Demographic Representation (Key Requirement) 

This project requires strong demographic diversity and inclusive representation. 

We are actively recruiting participants across: 

• All adult age groups (18–30, 31–45, 46–64, 65+) 

• All genders (including non-binary participants) 

• All skin tone categories 

• Diverse hair styles, lengths, and colors. 

We are particularly seeking representation from individuals identifying with the following ethnicities: 

• African / African American origins 

• Middle Eastern & North African 

• Indigenous Peoples of North America 

• East Asian (e.g., China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan) 

• South Asian (e.g., India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) 

• Southeast Asian (e.g., Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia) 

• European (e.g., UK, Italy, Poland, Greece, Turkey, etc.) 

• Latin American (e.g., Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Guatemala) 

• Pacific Islander communities. 

Participants may select multiple ethnic identities if applicable. 

Authentic and balanced representation is essential for this study. 

Application  

As part of the screening process, we may request a recent photo/selfie to ensure balanced demographic representation. 

This is used strictly for internal validation.

This is an in-person indoor study - San Francisco

Compliance & Safety 

• All participants must sign an Informed Consent Form (ICF). 

• Sessions are moderated and supervised. 

Who Should Apply 

• Adults 18+ 

• Comfortable being recorded in a structured indoor setting. 

• Available for an in-person session. 

• Interested in contributing to responsible AI development. 

No prior experience is required.
