COMPENSATION:  $38.30 - $40.21/hour + DOE + Benefits, Non-Exempt Regular Full-Time Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

Under the supervision of the Director of Indigenization, the Community Outreach Coordinator/Manager  will plan develop, and facilitate cooperative extension, cultural, and community-oriented programming to youth and adult populations that supports Iḷisaġvik College’s mission, vision, and goals.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintains cooperative working relations with key partners to manage and enhance services to local, regional, statewide, and international partners. 
  • Manages, coordinates, and oversees grants to ensure project directives are according to regulations and budgetary compliance.
  • Works closely with the Iḷisaġvik College grants employee(s).
  • Tracks key data related to role and community programming, such as the number of workshops provided, participant numbers, and other necessary details; provides timely reports to Advancement and Effectiveness and external audiences.
  • Plans, coordinates and facilitates a variety of cultural workshops for youth and adult populations while incorporating community feedback.
  • Collects quantitative, qualitative, and evaluative feedback from students and community regarding effectiveness and appropriateness of program offerings.
  • Serves actively on relevant college and community committees, including but not limited to the Indigenizing Iḷisaġvik committee.
  • Works with the supervisor to support, develop, maintain, and distribute marketing materials that support program outreach and needs that support community and cultural programming needs.
  • Assists the Student Services Department staff with outreach, workshops, and activities for students and providing cultural, wellness, and healthy living programming and supports.
  • Leads, coordinates, and/or assists with programming for recurring Iñupiaq Cultural Hours and Iḷisaġvik Orientation as needed.
  • Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.                                                      
  • Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and can confidently work independently with minimum direction and supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others. 
  • Demonstrated word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and internet research skills.
  • Familiarity with Alaska Native culture, Alaska rural life and higher education or vocational training processes, and ability to include these community values, customs, and beliefs for the project.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment, including working with various cultural organizations and community cultural experts.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel periodically.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/EXPERIENCE [Required]:

  • Associate’s degree in education, public administration, sociology, business or related field. 


 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, public administration, sociology, business or related field.
  • Valid driver license.

Health Insurance - Ilisagvik College is self-insured and Meritain Health is the health insurance third party administrator. Ilisagvik College offers health insurance to our employees with a no cost premium, and $50/pay period for each additional dependent and a low cost annual deductible of $200 for employee only and $600 for family.

Life Insurance - Ilisagvik College offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through Guardian Life to employees at no cost to the employee in the amount of $100,000/per benefit.

Additional supplemental or voluntary retirement, life insurance, disability benefits offered.
