About this role

About Insurance Insider

Insurance Insider is the leading provider of insights and analysis for the world's top insurers, distributors, service providers, and investors.

Since 1996, we've been helping clients uncover new business opportunities and protect against risks through our exclusive news, deep analysis and actionable insights on the insurance market. Our coverage extends across the London market, global (re)insurance market, insurance-linked securities market and US property and casualty market.

About the Role

We're looking for a Product Designer whose core strength is research — someone who builds deep empathy with users, turns ambiguous problems into clear insights, and uses those insights to drive product direction. You bring a research-first mindset to design, not as a separate phase, but as a continuous thread through everything you make.

You're also someone who has genuinely integrated AI into how you work. Whether that's synthesising research at scale, accelerating ideation, generating prototypes, or automating repetitive tasks — you use AI tools fluently, and you're curious about pushing that further.

In this role, you'll lead end-to-end research — from interviews and surveys to usability testing — and shape a standing customer panel that keeps our product grounded in real user needs. You'll define user journeys, flows, and interaction concepts and translate research into validated design decisions that guide both discovery and delivery.

You'll collaborate closely with our Product Designer on high-fidelity designs, contribute to our Figma design system, and create interactive prototypes. Partnering with Product and Engineering, you'll champion user-centred thinking and ensure user needs are represented at every stage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end user research — interviews, usability testing, surveys
  • Build and maintain a standing customer panel to continuously inform product direction
  • Define user journeys, flows, wireframes, and interaction concepts
  • Translate research insights into validated design directions
  • Use AI tools actively in your workflow — research synthesis, rapid ideation, prototype generation, content drafting
  • Collaborate with the Product Designer to refine and maintain high-fidelity designs
  • Contribute to and evolve the design system in Figma
  • Create interactive prototypes for testing and stakeholder alignment
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering throughout delivery
  • Present research findings clearly to stakeholders
  • Facilitate discussions and advocate for user-centred decisions

Qualifications & Experience

    • 5+ years of product or UX design experience, with a clear research experience
    • Strong experience planning and conducting research independently
    • Ability to structure and synthesise research into actionable insights
    • Fluency with AI tools in a design workflow — you can point to specific ways AI has changed how you work, such as Figma, Claude design, Lovable, and more
    • Proficiency in Figma — components, auto layout, prototyping
    • Experience with UX research and testing tools (e.g. Maze, Hotjar, Optimal Workshop, UserTesting, or similar)
    • Strong communication and presentation skills
    • Confidence facilitating discussions and negotiating design decisions with stakeholders
    • Experience working in agile product teams — sprints, Jira

    What We Offer

    • A leadership role with real impact and autonomy.
    • Flexibility with true hybrid working.
    • 25 holiday days per year, plus your birthday off.
    • A collaborative and mission-driven culture.
    • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
    • Competitive compensation and benefits.
