About the Role

As the Director, Engineering, you will lead the high-performing team responsible for Ivy & Ocelot, Gravyty’s flagship AI-powered engagement platform. You will balance technical leadership with people management, ensuring your team delivers a seamless, 24/7, and multilingual support experience for higher education institutions. Your goal is to lead the Engineering team responsible for executing a unified AI strategy that drives student recruitment, retention, and career readiness.

Core Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation in AI-powered automation and student success initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance, sprint planning support, and career development for engineers while ensuring delivery against the product roadmap.
  • Product Delivery: Oversee the end-to-end development of the Ivy & Ocelot platform, ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive, data-driven engagement tool.
  • Omnichannel Integration: Lead the engineering efforts to maintain a unified chat inbox that manages interactions across SMS, WhatsApp, Email, and Telephony.
  • Ecosystem Connectivity: Ensure robust, secure integrations with major campus systems, including Student Information Systems (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and CRMs.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive the team toward maximizing institutional ROI by automating routine inquiries and reducing administrative burdens for staff.
  • Security Governance: Maintain strict adherence to compliance standards, including SOC2 Type 2, FERPA, GDPR, and HIPAA.

Required Qualifications

  • Management Experience: Proven track record of leading engineering teams, ideally within the EdTech or SaaS sectors.
  • Technical Breadth: Strong understanding of AI/ML integration, API-based system architecture, and cloud-scale deployments.
  • Student-Centric Vision: Passion for using technology to identify at-risk students and improve educational outcomes.
