About the Team

We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented finance professional to join our Financial Control team as an Assistant Accounting & Finance Manager, based in our Lisbon office. Reporting directly to the Head of Treasury and Compliance, this role offers a unique blend of local responsibility and international exposure. 

This role is part of a global finance team and will have responsibility for financial management across a portfolio of subsidiaries within the group. The specific countries/subsidiaries assigned will depend on the individual’s skills and experience, ensuring balanced coverage across accounting, tax compliance and regulatory reporting. The position is highly integrated with our global finance function and requires close collaboration with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions. You’ll collaborate regularly with teams across multiple countries, making this an ideal opportunity for someone looking to gain international experience and progress toward a Financial Controller position. 

You’ll also serve as a key finance partner to our IoT business unit, with a broad, evolving remit that offers significant room to grow and make an impact. This includes contributing to systems projects, driving process improvements, and engaging in end-to-end financial operations. 

About the Role

Business Partnering with IoT  

  • Act as the finance lead for the IoT business line, developing a deep understanding of commercial models, cost structures and growth drivers; 
  • Collaborate with commercial, product and engineering teams to ensure accurate revenue and cost tracking; 
  • Conduct quality checks on billing data to validate completeness and appropriateness, and support revenue assurance; 
  • Provide insights and recommendations to enhance the financial performance and operational efficiency of the IoT unit; 
  • Help define and improve financial processes to support scaling of IoT operations. 

Support for Assigned Subsidiaries

  • Act as the primary finance point of contact for a defined set of legal entities within the group;
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with local GAAP and regulatory standards;
  • Coordinate tax filings, statutory audits, and regulatory submissions for assigned jurisdictions;
  • Liaise with local auditors, tax advisors, and other external stakeholders;
  • Align local reporting with group-level requirements, working closely with global finance colleagues;
  • Oversee payroll review processes and ensure accurate and timely payroll tax submissions where applicable.

Capitalised Development Process 

  • Lead the tracking and documentation of internally capitalised development costs under IFRS; 
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to assess eligible activities and timing; 
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation to support both internal and external reviews. 

Key Balance Sheet Reconciliations 

  • Own and perform reconciliations for critical balance sheet accounts;
  • Investigate aged items and ensure timely resolution of variances; 
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes with a strong focus on accuracy and adherence to deadlines. 

Finance Systems & Process Improvements 

  • Contribute to cross-functional systems projects, particularly in financial systems and billing platforms; 
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process optimisation across the finance function. 

About You
Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting roles – experience with international GAAP is considered a plus. 
  • Experience with IFRS, particularly the capitalisation of development costs. 
  • Proficiency with financial systems and general ERP or billing tools. 
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills. 
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement. 
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills. 
  • Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. 


Nice-to-haves

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., Contabilista Certificado, Revisor Oficial de Contas, ACCA, CPA, CIMA or other similar qualifications). 
  • Experience in the telecommunications or technology sector. 
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP systems. 
  • Interest or experience in systems implementation or process improvement initiatives.
