Position Title:  Assistant Store Manager - Wadano
Location: Hakuba, Japan

Reports to: Store Manager - Wadano
Contract Term: Exact dates TBC - October/November, 2026 - April 2027
Salary: ¥506,889 per month, starting

Position Summary:

The Assistant Store Manager will work with the Store Manager and assist in the overall operation and performance of the store. They will work closely with all store employees to ensure a positive customer experience, effective merchandising and operational execution, and employee performance and development.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Retail Floor Operations

  • Support the Store Manager in daily store operations and decision-making
  • Maintain high store presentation standards and ensure a smooth customer flow
  • Provide excellent customer service and help resolve in-the-moment issues
  • Help ensure accurate stock levels, product placement, and inventory management

Team Leadership & Support

  • Assist in training and supervising a seasonal, international team
  • Lead by example on the floor, keeping energy high and standards consistent
  • Step into a leadership role when the Store Manager is unavailable
  • Communicate updates, procedures, and priorities to the team

Sales & Strategy

  • Support sales targets by encouraging upselling and product knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to visual merchandising and store layout decisions
  • Help track sales performance and report insights to the Store Manager

Systems & Admin

  • Use tools like POS, inventory systems, and Tanda to manage operations
  • Monitor timesheets and assist with basic scheduling or rostering tasks
  • Assist with stock orders, transfers, and end-of-day reporting


What you need to succeed:

Leadership Potential

  • Experience in a supervisory or team lead role (retail preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Confidence to give feedback and support team development

Retail Know-How

  • Background in retail or customer-facing roles
  • Understanding of basic sales techniques and customer engagement
  • Product knowledge or a willingness to learn snowsports gear quickly

Operational Skills

  • Comfortable using store systems (POS, inventory software, basic admin tools)
  • Organized, dependable, and ready to solve problems in the moment
  • A good eye for presentation and a proactive approach to store maintenance

Customer First Attitude

  • Friendly, professional, and helpful under pressure
  • Ready to step in and support customer concerns or questions
  • Passionate about creating an awesome retail experience
