Reports to: Store Manager and Head Bootfitter
Contract Term: Exact dates TBC - October/November, 2026 - April 2027
Salary: ¥2,200 per hour, starting

The Role

As the Hardgoods Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and functional success of the Retail Hardgoods department, bridging technical bootfitting excellence with professional retail management. Your role is vital in leading, motivating, and developing a team of retail assistants to ensure every customer receives consistent, exceptional service, detailed technical advice, and the perfect boot fit and gear purchases. Leveraging your extensive retail experience and expertise in hard goods, ski boots, foot function, and customization, you will place inventory management, workshop efficiency, and staff training as top priorities. You will maintain high standards of visual merchandising and data accuracy to deliver a smooth customer experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.


Key Responsibilities and Duties 

Boot Fitting & Guest Service

  • Assess guest needs and deliver exceptional boot fitting services across ski and snowboard, including boot selection, heat molding, punching, grinding, canting adjustments, and custom footbed and liner builds
  • Describe and recommend products in line with guest needs, applying strong sales techniques and product knowledge
  • Adhere to all safety procedures regarding tools, equipment, and workshop operations

Workshop & Operations

  • Supervise the boot fitting workshop, ensuring all machinery, specialist tools, and molding systems are maintained, calibrated, and organised daily
  • Manage incoming product deliveries, receiving, and stock allocation in an efficient and organised manner
  • Lead visual merchandising within the boot department based on stock availability, seasonal trends, and promotions
  • Maintain impeccable store cleanliness and presentation standards
  • Conduct inventory counts and assist in the buying process
  • Follow company retail policies, staff procedures, and customer service standards consistently

Team Management & Training

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the boot fitting team, creating a collaborative and positive environment
  • Coordinate and deliver technical workshops covering foot function, boot anatomy, and custom modifications
  • Assist with onboarding and ongoing development for boot fitting and rental staff across systems, product knowledge, and sales techniques
  • Schedule rosters, delegate responsibilities, and monitor team performance with hands-on coaching and support
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide structured, constructive feedback
  • Serve as the communication pipeline between the team and management, surfacing successes, challenges, and opportunities

General Supervisor Duties

  • Maintain high-level professional communication across colleagues, departments, suppliers, and guests
  • Champion Rhythm's core values within the day-to-day retail environment
  • Support and cooperate with retail, rental, and workshop departments as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management


What You Need to Succeed 

Boot Fitting & Technical Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience in ski and snowboard boot fitting across a range of foot types and ability levels
  • Proficiency in boot modifications including heat molding, punching, grinding, and canting adjustments
  • Experience with custom footbed and orthotic fitting and assessment
  • Strong working knowledge of ski binding DIN/ISO settings and snowboard binding configuration
  • Deep familiarity with a broad brand portfolio including seasonal model changes and technology updates

Leadership & Team Development

  • Experience leading or supervising a team in a retail or workshop environment
  • Confident in training, coaching, and developing staff at varying skill levels
  • Skilled at scheduling, delegating, and keeping a team motivated during a busy season

Operations & Communication

  • Organised and detail-oriented with a hands-on approach to workshop and stock management
  • Clear, professional communicator across teams, suppliers, and guests
  • Calm and proactive when things get busy or challenging
  • A genuine passion for snowsports and helping guests find the right setup
