Position Title: Retail Hardgoods Assistant

Location: Niseko, Hakuba Furano, Japan

Reports to: Head Bootfitter and/or Store Manager (in each location)
Contract Term: Exact dates TBC - October/November, 2026 - April 2027
Salary: ¥1,800 per hour, starting

The Role

As Bootfitter you will be responsible for providing exceptional service while assisting customers with boot services including selection, proper fit, balancing, stance alignment and foot beds. 

You will also assist customers to ensure they have a fun and memorable shopping experience by providing them with boot and product knowledge, options, and accessories. It is the Boot Fitter’s responsibility to provide exceptional customer service and make a life-long customer, not just a sale.

Key Responsibilities and Duties 

• Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner
• Identify guest needs and provide expert bootfitting services, including:
  • Boot selection and fitting
  • Customizations and modifications
  • Custom footbeds and liners
• Recommend appropriate products and services based on customer needs
• Explain product features, maintenance, warranties, and usage
• Answer questions about products, the store, Rhythm services, and the resort
• Maintain merchandising standards and manage stock of hard goods
• Keep up to date with ski industry trends and product knowledge
• Follow safety procedures when using tools and equipment
• Support daily store operations and maintain a clean, organized workspace
• Communicate clearly and positively with team members, customers, and suppliers
• Assist and collaborate with other departments as required
• Live and work in alignment with Rhythm’s core values

What You Need to Succeed 

• A passion for skiing, snowboarding, and helping people enjoy the mountains
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Bootfitting experience is ideal; training can be provided for the right person
• Comfort using tools and working with hands
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and work as part of a team
• A customer-first mindset and pride in delivering high-quality service
