Position Title: Workshop Technician

Location: Niseko, Hakuba and Furano, Japan

Reports to: Workshop Manager and/or Store Manager (in each location)
Contract Term: Exact dates TBC - October/November, 2026 - April 2027
Salary: ¥1,700 per hour, starting

The Role

We are gear heads and we know what it means to take great care of our ski and board equipment. As a Rhythm Tunes Workshop Technician you will be responsible for the maintenance of our rental fleet and our customers personal equipment with great care. 
Our rental fleet at Rhythm consists of over 3000 skis and snowboards with approx 200-500 being rented out at any given time. The Rhythm Tunes Workshop is the most popular workshop in town with a reputation of delivering the highest quality service and froth. Expect to be part of a passionate and pumping work environment where you get to stoke out customers on a daily basis.


Key Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Greet and stoke customers, assisting with equipment needs and delivering an exceptional experience.
  • Assess and advise on necessary equipment repairs, tunes, and waxes.
  • Perform binding mounts, full-service tunes, edging, waxing, and other technical services to Rhythm’s high standard.
  • Adhere to all safety, area, and industry regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
  • Accurately complete service documentation and repair logs.
  • Educate customers on equipment care and proper usage.
  • Collaborate with team members and support other departments when needed.
  • Take on additional tasks as required to support workshop operations.


What You Need to Succeed 

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Solid knowledge of equipment mechanics (e.g. skis, snowboards, bikes) and repair techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, especially during peak times.
  • Good communication skills for explaining technical issues to customers clearly.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a flexible, can-do attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, techniques, and service standards.
  • Basic computer skills for logging repairs and using point-of-sale/service systems.
