Position Title: Bilingual (JP/ENG) Operations Assistant
Location: Niseko, Japan
Reports to: Snowsports Operations Manager
Contract Term: November, 2026 - April 2027 (exact dates, TBC)
Salary: ¥1,850 per hour, starting (DOE)

The Role
This hybrid bilingual role is designed to support both on-the-ground snowsports operations and administrative & language-based functions vital to the smooth running of the Snowsports School. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting instructors, guests, and managers, while also bridging language and cultural gaps to ensure clear communication and efficient coordination with local services and resort partners.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Japanese Language Support
- Act as a translator and cultural liaison to assist managers in communication with local resorts, businesses, and services.
- Provide emergency support by contacting ski patrol, police, hospitals, or other relevant agencies on behalf of guests or staff.
- Accompany guests or staff to medical appointments or hospitals, providing translation and support where required.
- Monitor and report on lift operations, weather conditions, and other essential operational info not available in English.
- Follow company protocols in the event of incidents (e.g., vehicle accidents), ensuring correct reporting and notifications.
- Support HR with onboarding/offboarding Japanese-speaking staff, including translation of documents and meetings when needed.
Snowsports Program Support:
- Support day-to-day logistics of snowsports programs, including communication between instructors, guests, and supervisors.
- Proactively assist instructors in locating guests and resolving issues that may arise during lessons.
- Drive guests or instructors to lesson start points when required, especially in urgent or adverse conditions.
- Monitor lesson flow and support efficient guest check-ins and program operations.
- Communicate program schedules and updates to instructors and guests, maintaining a smooth guest experience.
Administrative & Guest Services Support
- Assist with timekeeping, scheduling, and documentation related to staff shifts and program delivery.
- Prepare and distribute reports, memos, and internal updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of operations, rosters, and guest issues.
- Collaborate with the Guest Services and Programs teams to improve processes and guest satisfaction.
- Respond to guest inquiries, support solutions, and help ensure a warm and professional environment
What You Need to Succeed
- Fluent in both Japanese and English (spoken and written).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across multicultural teams.
- Calm and clear decision-making under pressure (especially during emergencies).
- Valid Japanese or International Driving License (preferred for guest/instructor transport).
- Comfortable working outdoors in alpine conditions.
- Experience in a guest-facing or snowsports role is highly regarded.
- Previous administrative or hospitality experience is an advantage.
