Position Title: IT Technician

Location: Niseko, Japan

Reports to: IT Manager
Contract Term: 1st November, 2026 - 20th March 2027 
Salary: ¥1,800 per hour, starting (DOE)

The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and capable human to fill the seasonal role of IT Technician, based in Niseko. Primary duties consist of, but are not limited to: providing remote and emergency support to users all around our business in Japan; installation, configuration, and support of various IT equipment and software. This includes but is not limited to, servers, PCs, laptops, printers, cameras, network equipment, POS software, Google Workspace, Slack, and Atlassian (Jira etc.)

Key Responsibilities and Duties 

On Ground:

• Hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Installing new and/or existing equipment for new staff and stores
  • Including but not limited to, PCs, monitors, network equipment, iPads, printers and other peripherals, running LAN cables
  • Physical cleaning and dusting of PCs and equipment on a regular basis
  • Ensuring software and firmwares are up to date
• Inventory management
  • Keep the list of technology inventory updated whenever hardware is purchased or replaced, or moved to a different location, or reallocated to another staff member

IT Support - Japan-wide 

• IT Support
  • Through the use of TeamViewer and similar technologies, remotely assist staff all across Rhythm when you are the only one rostered for tech support
  • Assist store and office staff when equipment is not functioning correctly or they have trouble connecting
  • Assist the property team with wifi installation and troubleshooting at staff accommodations
  • General advice and support when needed

• Improvements to existing systems
  • Identify and report on opportunities for improving efficiency or connectivity. Implement these enhancements where possible, or collaborate with the Technology team or other departments to facilitate their implementation.
• Security, integrity, and confidentiality
  • All tasks should be executed with a focus on business security and data protection.
  • As an administrator of various Rhythm services, you are required to maintain the confidentiality of any information you encounter.
• Miscellaneous technology-related tasks
  • As a constantly evolving business, tasks we cannot foresee are sure to arise. When related to IT and Technology, your assistance may be required

What You Need to Succeed 

• Experience in setting up and troubleshooting IT equipment
  • PCs and peripherals
  • Configuring Wifi routers and network equipment
  • Printers
  • Running and terminating ethernet cables
• Ability to think logically and problem solve. Create solutions for problems as they arise
• Ability to understand computers and software from both the technical point of view and the user point of view, and communicate to users/staff in a way they can understand
• Experience with Windows servers and Active Directory is beneficial but not required
• Able to follow and work to a roster during the regular business season, to ensure coverage of the IT Support Desk
• Maintenance and projects may require occasional night and weekend work. Hours worked will contribute to your weekly expected hours of work
• Comfortable with receiving the occasional phone call outside of rostered hours
  • If the call results in going in to work, it will contribute to your regular working hours
• Maintain confidentiality about any and all information being processed, stored or accessed by the company’s systems
• Must be able to drive a vehicle to support users in other locations around the area

Extra Information

• Most of the time, a vehicle will be available to move around the area and complete tasks
  • A valid driver’s license is required to drive a vehicle in Japan
• A laptop and monitor will be provided in the office for software and admin related tasks
  • The laptop can and should be taken home in case of emergencies, but is not intended to be used outside of work as a personal device
