From remnant extraction to new mining areas coming online, the work here will stretch your capability and keep you engaged. This role sits within our Technical Services team and plays a key part in delivering safe, practical and production-aligned engineering outcomes underground.

You’ll work closely with geology, underground operations and maintenance to ensure plans are executable, risks are understood and performance is optimised. With multiple growth fronts across the mine, this is a dynamic environment where engineering decisions have a direct and visible impact.

The Role

As the Production Engineer this position is responsible for ensuring Production plans are practicable and executable for the Mining Operation. The role will deliver operational instructions, to enable the business to meet its objectives in terms of production and cost. 

This is a drill and blast design role, so make sure you highlight your design skills. Strong communication and collaborative skills to enable integrated production instructions by incorporating detailed engineering designs with operational risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and update designs in Deswik
  • Conduct drill and blast design and optimisation
  • Monitor and report on mine physical performance
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with underground supervisors and operators

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or relevant discipline
  • Underground hard rock experience (gold preferred)
  • Strong design capability
  • Practical understanding of underground mining methods
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Current C-Class Driver’s Licence

Desirable:

  • First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate (or working towards)
  • Experience in remnant or technically complex mining environments
