We are searching for an Ontario hospital Board Chair to join the Proximity Institute Board as a director for a two-year, non-renewable term.

 

The Impact You'll Make

As a member of our Board of Directors, you will bring seasoned governance expertise and a deep understanding of the complexities of healthcare leadership. Your experience as a current Ontario hospital Board Chair will be invaluable in guiding strategic priorities, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring our governance practices meet the highest standards of transparency and integrity. You will help shape decisions that directly impact the development of Ontario hospital leaders, stakeholder trust, and the long-term sustainability of Ontario hospitals.



What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic oversight and governance to ensure Proximity Institute’s purpose, mission, vision, and values are upheld.
  • Leverage your leadership as a hospital Board Chair to mentor fellow board members and strengthen governance effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of strategic plan and fiscal stewardship.
  • Champion stakeholder engagement, ensuring diverse voices and perspectives are represented in decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and executive leadership to evaluate performance, manage risk, and drive innovation.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Proximity Institute, fostering trust and building partnerships.

Position Profile: Ontario Hospital Board Chair 

This position is for a current Ontario hospital board chair to participate as a director on the Proximity Board. This individual has a track record of navigating the complex environment in which hospitals operate and demonstrated ability to build strong and effective working relationships with hospital leadership and stakeholders. They are a strong advocate for collaborative governance and have demonstrated passion for mentoring and creating learning and advancement opportunities for emerging leaders to support succession. They can dedicate the time and energy required for active participation in board and committee meetings.

  • Exposure to leadership development and succession planning activities and principles
  • Deep understanding of healthcare policy, funding models, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, diplomacy, and consensus-building skills.

  • The ability to dedicate the time and energy required for active participation in board and committee meetings.
