Responsibility: 

Within the Marketing and Communications function of the organization, this role provides communications guidance across the organization, owns the digital communication experience across our website, social media, and leads media engagement to achieved effective public presence. It also participates in cross functional projects as they arise.

 

Major Responsibilities:


Digital Media Content Creation

  • Develops and continually refines a digital communications strategy aligned with program recruitment, engagement and systems change goals
  • Plans and coordinates digital campaigns across channels, in collaboration with the marketing coordinator
  • Produces content that advances strategy, prioritizing organic social media, and Momentum’s website


Website Management

  • Assesses and scopes architectural changes
  • Ensures all content is accurate, reflects brand standards and is appropriate for intended users.
  • Ensures design decisions are user-focused
  • Interprets web analytics for the team
  • Champions user experience in all decisions related to forms and CRM integration.
  • Enables decentralized web updates through an effective CMS structure
  • Manages all incoming content and design requests from staff and partners
  • Oversees website contractors
  • Ensures financial partners are appropriately recognized


Media relations coordination

  • Is the point person for media inquiries.
  • Leads Momentum’s proactive work to build relationships and pitch stories to traditional media
  • Prepares and confirms key messages and briefs designated spokesperson
  • Identifies and coaches participant speakers
  • Coordinates relationship building efforts with media stakeholders

 

Strategic Communications

  • Aligns organizational messaging across channels with the Income First strategy and Momentum’s brand.
  • Participates as needed in crisis communications planning and response.
  • Participates in refinement of systems and processes in collaboration with our internal CRM and other workflow tools
  • Contributes marketing and communications expertise through strategy discussions, program naming, funnel and intake design, messaging and copywriting etc.
  • Responds to inquiries with a solution-focused stance, balancing a particular area’s need with organizational priorities and cohesion

 

Organization & Community Involvement

  • Ensures Momentum’s values are reflected in the work
  • Contributes to Momentum’s culture and shared accountability by working collaboratively with others and pitching in to get things done beyond the scope of one’s own role
  • Participates in team, Momentum and community meetings, committees, activities, and events as capacity allows
  • Attends relevant training, conferences, seminars, and workshops, as schedule allows

 

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in marketing and communications, including web and media.
  • Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, information design, or related field; equivalent diploma and experience considered.
  • Experience managing websites and communications in complex, multi-stakeholder environments; non-profit experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver digital and print communication strategies for diverse audiences.
  • Experience creating and managing content across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Strong organizational, communication, writing, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships, collaborate effectively, and manage conflict with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent work skills.
  • Ability to create accessible content for audiences with varying literacy and ESL needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quick to learn new software and online applications.
  • Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and professionalism in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment and occasional evenings as required.
