For over 30 years, Ngati Hine Health Trust has been a beacon of oranga (wellbeing) in Northland. We offer a wide range of services including health, disability support, mental health & addictions, primary care, justice, corrections, housing, education, and social services. Our mission is rooted in the values and tikanga of Ngati Hine, ensuring that our work uplifts the wellbeing of our whānau, hapū, and hāpori.
The Role: Casual Kaiawhina Home Support Workers – Whangarei, Bay of Islands, Whangaroa and Kaikohe
If you are passionate about supporting whanau to develop self-confidence, independence and to live great lives! Then come and join our great team.
You will provide support and assistance to whanau living within their homes to enjoy an ordinary life that encompasses personal growth and development, strengthens wellbeing and independence and promotes integration with the community.
We are looking for culturally competent kaimahi who possess the skills and attitude, to support whānau with High and Complex needs.
Your Mission
- Engage and Empower: Build working relationships and partnerships with a variety of support services and networks.
- Facilitate and Support Support families/whānau to engage in their wellbeing journey. Connect and support whanau to appropriate services.
- Professionalism: Has good knowledge/understanding of the supports and services needed for our vulnerable families/whanau in the communities.
What You Bring
- Cultural Connection: Knowledge of Te Reo me ōna Tikanga or a strong desire to learn.
- Empathy and Resilience: Ability to thrive in environments of conflict, chaos, or unpredictability.
- Professional Integrity: Exceptional interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to maintain self-care. You will either hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or above (or a recognised equivalent) or on a pathway of learning
- Communication Skills: Proficiency in verbal, written, and computer literacy.
- Flexibility and Compassion: A positive, flexible, and compassionate approach with a non-judgemental attitude.
- Quick Thinking: Ability to respond rapidly to incidents and make sound judgements.
- Essential: Clean, Full NZ Driver’s License essential for local travel.
