Ngāti Hine Health Trust is seeking two dedicated Casual Kaimahi (Support Workers) to join our Residential Disability Support Services team in Whangārei and Moerewa.

Our services span disability support, mental health and addictions, primary care, justice and corrections, housing, education, and social services. Grounded in the values and tikanga of Ngāti Hine, we work to uplift the oranga of whānau, hapū, and hāpori.
The Role: Kaimahi – Residential Support Worker
As a Kaimahi – Residential Support Worker, you will support whānau with daily personal cares and community-based activities as outlined in their Whānau Ora Plan. You will work alongside whānau with high and complex needs, supporting their independence, dignity, and wellbeing within a residential setting.
No previous experience? That’s ok. We support our kaimahi to gain nationally recognised qualifications, from NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing Levels 2–4.
What You’ll Be Doing
· Engage & Empower: Build positive, respectful relationships with whānau and partner services to support outcomes set by whānau, for whānau
· Support & Facilitate: Assist with personal cares, daily routines, and meaningful activities in the community
· Professional Practice: Work in line with Disability Support Service standards, policies, and Kaupapa Māori values
What You’ll Bring
· Cultural Awareness: Knowledge of Te Reo me ōna Tikanga, or a willingness to learn
· Empathy & Resilience: Confidence working in complex, dynamic, and sometimes unpredictable environments
· Qualifications: NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing Level 4 (or equivalent), or willingness to study toward this
· Communication Skills: Strong verbal, written, and basic computer skills
· Personal Attributes: Flexible, positive, non-judgemental, and compassionate approach
· Sound Judgement: Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to incidents
· Licence: Full, clean NZ Driver Licence and ability to drive a mobility vehicle
