Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It includes the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which will have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and will produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Position

The Process Engineer is an integral part of Woodfibre LNG’s operations team. The Process Engineer will work with a team of multi-discipline engineers, supporting the plant Operations group through construction, commissioning, start-up and steady state, ensuring safe, reliable and sustainable production, thus meeting our customers’ requirements. The successful candidate reports directly to the Process Engineering Manager and will play an essential part in supporting the company’s operations team, project management team and external stakeholders through the construction and operating phases of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will:

  • Be an active member of the process support team, which covers Process Engineering, Process Control, Production Planning and Laboratory Services.
  • Support the start-up of the plant, working with the plant Operations group in optimizing the commissioning and start-up schedule.
  • Prepare for, manage and report on process unit and equipment performance runs.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the plant process units and utility systems on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, with the objective to continuously improve process safety, reliability and efficiency.
  • Support maximization of plant capacity through process simulation, calculations and reporting.
  • Lead and implement process safety requirements.
  • Undertake plant trip investigation and reporting and develop reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Continuously improve plant performance through initiation and follow through on Management of Change.
  • Participate in HAZOP and other process safety reviews where required.
  • Provide day-to-day process engineering support for operations on issues relating to Pre-Treatment, Liquefication and Storage & Loading.
  • Analyze and report on plant and equipment performance and for cost & efficiency improvement.

HSSE:

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to continually improve personnel and process safety in the plant.
  • Support process safety and management of process safety systems.
  • Support the plant risk register and mitigations management.
  • Provide technical support to Emergency Response Management team.

Other:

  • Participate in audits as required by plant management.
  • Participate in short term domestic & international assignments if required during the construction, commissioning and start-up phases.
  • Available for call out during plant/production upsets.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum seven (7) years of proven technical competence in the Oil & Gas Industry, preferably LNG .
  • Good understanding of and exposure to gas processing, liquefaction and storage and loading of LNG.
  • Skilled in process simulation and unit performance monitoring.
  • Proven experience in production and support of an operating process plant with cryogenic units
  • Competent in HAZOP and other technical safety reviews.
  • Experience in root cause analysis.

Additional Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Process Engineering with P.Eng status in Canada or eligibility to register as P.Eng.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to be able to interact with front line workers through to management level.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Takes ownership of deliverables and demonstrates commitment to delivery of tasks and targets.
  • Actively supports peers, including members of other departments.
  • A valid driver’s license and passport.
  • As required, the position is based in Squamish (site), BC with travel to Vancouver office, as required.
