About this role

We currently have a vacancy for a Human Machine Interface (HMI) Programmer (C++), fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Maastricht, Netherlands. The work will be carried out either in the company’s premises or on site at customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated in the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site.

Your tasks

  • Develop and maintain advanced C++ software for air traffic control operator workstations and automation tools;
  • Contribute to the implementation of new operational features that support air traffic controllers in managing air traffic safely and efficiently;
  • Work closely with software engineers, system specialists and operational experts to design, develop, test, and integrate new functionalities;
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, implementation, testing, debugging and deployment;
  • Support the integration of automation capabilities into live operational systems;
  • Improve existing applications and contribute to system reliability, performance and usability enhancements;
  • Collaborate with an agile, multidisciplinary engineering team on large-scale technical projects;
  • Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance activities and technical investigations related to operational software systems;
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation related to software development and system implementation;
  • Ensure developed solutions comply with operational, safety and quality standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology, with a focus on Software Engineering, combined with minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in IT;
  • At least 3 years of experience developing large scale (>100 kSLOC) operational HMI software, preferably in a Unix environment;
  • At least 3 years of experience using modern C++, including C++11, C++17, C++20 and template programming;
  • At least 3 years of experience in identifying, analysing, solving problems and presenting key issues and recommended solutions in a clear, structured manner;
  • At least 1 year of experience in developing and maintaining software an documentation in accordance with recognized industrial quality and safety standards (SWAL 3 or equivalent);
  • At least 1 year of experience in writing high-quality technical documentation (specifications, design document, test descriptions, user manual, etc);
  • At least 3 years of experience with an HMI framework, would be an asset;
  • Experience in acting as a business analyst, where required, would be an asset;
  • Excellent command of the English language.
