About the role

The Fraud Lending Manager leads end-to-end fraud risk management for lending products, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant fraud detection and case resolution. This role manages day-to-day fraud operations while strengthening fraud systems performance, rule effectiveness, and platform reliability across the lending lifecycle. The position partners with Operations, Product, Engineering, Data, and Compliance teams to improve customer experience, control losses, and maintain strong governance aligned with regulatory expectations. 

  • Manage lending fraud operations, ensuring effective queue triage, investigation, and resolution of fraud alerts and cases. 
  • Drive SLA adherence and case resolution quality through workload planning, monitoring, and continuous coaching. 
  • Oversee execution of lending fraud controls including holds, escalations, and regulatory/industry reporting processes (e.g., AFASA workflows and DTR handling). 
  • Ensure strict adherence to SOPs, control checklists, and documentation standards for fraud investigations and decisioning. 
  • Lead fraud platform and integration performance for lending fraud detection tools, ensuring high system availability and operational readiness. 
  • Own fraud rule strategy and tuning for lending products—review false positives/negatives, optimize thresholds, and implement meaningful rule enhancements. 
  • Monitor fraud engine performance (e.g., hit rate) and investigate degradation, anomalies, and data quality issues affecting fraud decisioning. 
  • Establish and maintain accurate documentation for lending fraud systems, rules, workflows, and operational playbooks. 
  • Manage tool optimization initiatives to improve performance, reduce manual effort, and deliver measurable efficiency benefits. 
  • Coordinate incident response for fraud system issues, including prioritization, stakeholder updates, root cause analysis, and preventive actions. 
  • Partner with the following: 
    • Credit Risk (segmentation & scorecards) 
    • Product (journey design & friction management) 
    • Data Science (model development & monitoring) 
    • Technology (fraud engine integrations) 
    • Compliance & AML teams 
    • Provide fraud risk input into new product launches. 
  • Lead or oversee lending fraud investigations team. 
  • Define case management standards and investigation SLAs. 
  • Develop team capability through the 70:20:10 framework (on-the-job learning, collaboration, and formal training) and assign special projects to widen scope. 
  • Ensure compliance with BSP / AML / consumer protection regulations. 
  • Maintain documented fraud risk assessments and controls. 
  • Support regulatory reporting and audits. 
  • Assistance in court appearances as needed. 

Must Haves

  • A Bachelor's Degree graduate of any related degree. Graduate of a non-technical course is acceptable, with strong technical aptitude 
  • 5+ years in fraud operations, investigations, or customer protection. Familiar with MORB Guidelines and AFASA. 
  • Proven experience in transaction monitoring within a banking or financial services environment 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to navigate and leverage new tools and technologies for fraud detection 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills 
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, agile environment 
  • Has training using fraud tools (case management platforms, rules engines, alerting/monitoring tools) 
  • Demonstrated experience handling lending fraud (e.g., application fraud, identity/synthetic identity, account takeover affecting lending, collusion, first/third-party fraud, disbursement/repayment manipulation) 
  • Experience with SQL and/or a programming language for investigation support, rule validation, data checks, and performance monitoring 
  • Strong logical reasoning and structured problem-solving 
  • Ability to translate fraud trends into operational actions and system/rule enhancements 
  • Stakeholder management across Operations, Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Risk 
  • Knowledge of fraud controls, fraud typologies, and lending-specific risk points across the customer journey 
  • Strong documentation discipline and governance mindset (audit readiness, control evidence, process adherence)
