About this role

Matternet is building the future of delivery with autonomous drone networks that move critical goods faster, cleaner, and at lower cost. We work with partners across healthcare, logistics, food, and retail to deliver everything from medical items to everyday essentials, safely and reliably.

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Product Manager to lead the product strategy and execution for our next-generation drone delivery platform software. This role operates at the critical intersection of hardware, software, and regulatory compliance, managing a portfolio spanning backend integrations, operational control interfaces, and core drone operation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own the cloud platform architecture and product strategy, including APIs, backend services, data pipelines, and operational tooling.
  • Drive requirements around scalability, availability, latency, security, and observability for mission-critical systems.
  • Define and champion the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Matternet's next-generation drone delivery platform, focusing on scalability, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and gather customer/partner feedback to identify new product opportunities and define clear, measurable goals.
  • Work closely with engineering, design, operations, and business teams to translate product requirements into detailed specifications (user stories, acceptance criteria).
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch, iteration, and end-of-life, ensuring successful execution and adoption.
  • Serve as the internal and external product expert, clearly communicating product value, features, and status to stakeholders.
  • Drive product launches, including working with business to develop compelling positioning, materials, and training.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and inform future development decisions.
  • Ensure products comply with aviation regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA) and work with regulatory affairs teams to secure necessary certifications.
  • 5+ years of product management experience in software products, with a proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional products.
  • Strong experience with B2B integrations, APIs, or platform products.
  • Excellent technical aptitude, with the ability to reason about cloud architectures, distributed systems, APIs, and operational tradeoffs, and communicate effectively with engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing products with both internal (operations/control) and external (customer/partner) users.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize competing needs across multiple product lines (e.g., B2B integrations, internal tools, core operations).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotics, drones, IoT, or hardware-software systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, distributed systems, or developer-facing products.
  • Background in operational tools, fleet management, or real-time control systems.
  • Experience with regulated industries or safety-critical applications (e.g., aviation, medical, automotive).
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.

Work Environment

  • This is a hybrid role that requires in-office collaboration three days per week to support close cross-functional work.Β

At Matternet, we’re advancing a new era of logistics, one where autonomous drones deliver what matters faster, cleaner, and more efficiently. We know our mission is challenging, but it's worth it, and we are committed to taking care of the people who make it possible.
