Veterinary Physiology Faculty Position Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor

Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine

The Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications and nominations for a non-tenure track faculty position in Physiology at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.   We are seeking a dynamic faculty committed to advancing excellence in veterinary education, fostering a culture of innovation, and promoting academic success among our students. Furthermore, we are pursuing an innovative, creative, collaborative faculty to engage within an inspired academic community to reimagine and transform veterinary medical education aimed at creating a vibrant learning ecosystem that graduates not only career ready, but future ready veterinarians to meet the ever-evolving healthcare needs of the 21st Century and beyond.

 

Primary responsibilities include teaching, service, and scholarly activities. Service activities vary with individual preferences and program needs. Scholarly activities depend upon the goals of the individual and time assignment to scholarship. A typical time assignment is 75% teaching, 20% scholarly activities, and 5% service. Alternative hiring models including part time, non-benefit eligible positions will be considered.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Provide innovative education, mentorship, and guidance to all students in a variety of settings, including the classroom, laboratory, and simulation center in the discipline of physiology.
  • Participate in student assessment, feedback, and remediation to ensure that students meet LCSVM’s high academic standards in the areas of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Participate in curriculum development, delivery, assessment, and enhancement.
  • Provide service to Lyon College and the greater community by serving on committees, providing leadership, participating in community outreach events, and working with professional organizations and groups.
  • Maintain discipline and teaching expertise through continuing professional education.
  • Engage in scholarly activity, including research, authorship, presentations at conferences, teaching innovation, entrepreneurship, and mentorship of students in their scholarly activities.

For all positions:

  • Promote the mission of LCSVM to all faculty, staff, students, and to the local, state, national, and international communities, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to a culture of academic creativity, innovation, and collaboration that fosters student success.
  • Promote effective, collaborative, inclusive working relationships among faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders.
  • Advance the principles of andragogy and pedagogy throughout LCSVM.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Rank:

  • Rank will be either Full, Associate, or Assistant Professor depending upon qualifications and experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the delivery of veterinary/medical education, including an understanding of the principles of andragogy and pedagogy and their application in a professional curriculum.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Terminal degree (DVM, or equivalent, or MD, and/or PhD)

Preferred: 

  • Prior experience teaching within a veterinary or medical school.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in educational and/or professional settings.
  • Demonstrated scholarly activities in education, innovations, entrepreneurship, and/or medical research.

 

This position will be based at the new Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine in Cabot, Arkansas.  The LCSVM is co-located with Cabot Animal Support Services (CASS). CASS is a local, state, and national model for shelter medicine, animal welfare, community relations, and education.
