Community Paramedic- Full time & Part time
About this role
Full-Time Community Paramedic
Ute Pass Regional Health Service District (UPRHSD)
📍 Serving Teller, Douglas, El Paso, and Park Counties
📅 Schedule: 48/96 (subject to change based on district needs)
💰 Pay Range: $69,324 – $105,830 annually
The Role
UPRHSD is always accepting applications for Community Paramedic (CP) positions. We may not always be hiring full time, but we will communicate when positions open for full time here. We’re looking for passionate clinicians who believe EMS can be more than lights and sirens and who are excited to help shape the future of mobile integrated healthcare in our community.
As a Community Paramedic, you’ll be trained and cleared to function in both the CP and 911 ambulance roles. You will complete a 911 ambulance field training then move onto a CP field training after passing as a 911 ambulance provider. You are expected to be a proficient and competent paramedic first then add on your advanced training. While you don’t need your CP endorsement to start, you must obtain it by the end of your field training process to continue employment. You’ll start at the standard paramedic pay rate until you receive your endorsement.
This position responds to a wide range of calls across four counties ranging from complex mental health situations to in-home assessments and treatments for patients who may not need or want transport to the ER.
Who We Are
UPRHSD is not your typical ambulance agency. We’re a forward-thinking health service district with a strong focus on:
- Community-based care
- Advanced provider education
- High professional standards
- Mental health support
- Clinical innovation
We strive to do the right thing even when it’s the hard thing.
Our CP Division
Our Community Paramedics go beyond the traditional EMS model:
- Respond to patients in crisis or in need of non-emergent interventions
- Perform in-home assessments, lab work, and medication administration
- Partner with telehealth providers for alternative destination pathways
- Spend the necessary time to get the right answer not just an answer
This division is constantly growing and evolving to meet the needs of our population. We need CPs who are flexible, resilient, and eager to be part of a pioneering team.
Other Responsibilities
In addition to medical care, full-time employees take ownership in the success of the district by contributing in areas such as:
- Education and training
- QA/QI and clinical improvement
- Community outreach & special events
- Equipment and vehicle maintenance
- Participation in district task forces and projects
Call Volume & Partnerships
- ~4,200 calls annually (and increasing)
- Mix of 911, interfacility, and backcountry calls
- Strong partnerships with local hospitals and community agencies
- Self-managed system status coverage, multi-call management, and complex dispatch coordination
We expect our team members to be independent thinkers and strong collaborators, with the ability to manage ambiguity and shift gears quickly.
Culture & Fit
We’re upfront about who we are because culture matters.
If you thrive in a team-oriented, self-motivated, community-focused environment and believe in thinking beyond the cot, we’d love to talk.
If not, that’s okay too. We believe in finding the right fit, not just a warm body.
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time pay range: $69,324 – $105,830 annually
Compensation based on experience, endorsement status, and contribution.
Benefits include:
- Colorado Retirement Association 401(a) retirement plan - mandatory participation, 4%/4% company match
