About this role

Position Overview

The Telecoms Design Engineer will provide specialist design, configuration, implementation, and ongoing support of ICT and telecommunications infrastructure across Rendeavour's development portfolio. This role demands deep expertise in fiber optic networks, ISP core network architecture, and modern telecommunications systems to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable connectivity solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial users within our master-planned cities.

The successful candidate will architect and maintain robust telecommunications infrastructure including FTTH networks using GPON and active Ethernet technologies, manage network operations ensuring 99.9%+ uptime, and coordinate with utilities engineering teams to deliver world-class connectivity. Responsibilities include building, maintaining, and updating cloud and on-premises infrastructure with emphasis on security, data confidentiality, system integrity, availability, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Telecommunications Network Design & Architecture - Designs end-to-end telecom infrastructure, including fiber, wireless, and data centers, develops network topologies, prepares technical documentation, conducts site surveys, and performs capacity and performance calculations.

 

  • Network Infrastructure Implementation & Managemen - Manage daily operations, monitoring, and support for LAN, WAN, wireless, and VPN networks while ensuring security. Configure and oversee GPON/XG-PON, Ethernet networks, and core routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS, implementing QoS policies to prioritize critical traffic and optimize network performance.

 

  • Fiber Optic Network Operations & Maintenance - Troubleshoot and repair fiber outages on GPON and Ethernet networks with utility teams, using OTDR testing for diagnostics. Manage fiber assets like FDHs, ODFs, and splitters, coordinate with civil teams on installations, and implement preventive maintenance programs.

 

  • ISP Core Network & Connectivity Management - Design and manage ISP core infrastructure, including border routers, switches, and peering. Optimize BGP routing, implement security measures, manage bandwidth, and ensure redundancy for continuous connectivity.

 

  • Systems Integration & Technical Infrastructure - Manage ERP, databases, and integrations; configure RADIUS/AAA; implement monitoring; maintain secure cloud and on-premises infrastructure; utilize AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud for hybrid and disaster recovery.

  • Performance Management & Compliance - Ensure 99.9%+ systems uptime, monitor KPIs, maintain compliance, and conduct audits for Rendeavour ICT systems.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ Years experience in Telecommunications Network Design & Architecture.
  • Proficiency in network design using visio and autocad.
  • Cisco, MikroTik and Fiber Optic certifications (Highly Preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS
  • Comprehensive understanding of GPON/XG-PON architecture and ITU-T standards
  • Working experience with cloud computing, Scripting and Network monitoring platforms.
