We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Merchandiser to collaborate closely with the Founder & Creative Director in transforming creative concepts into commercially successful products.
This pivotal early-stage position demands an individual capable of managing execution from start to finish, working independently, and partnering effectively with a small founding team as well as external collaborators.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development & Execution
β Oversee the entire product lifecycle from initial concept through to final production
β Convert design briefs into practical and actionable development strategies
β Manage sampling, multiple iterations, fittings, and secure final approvals
2. Production & Critical Path Management
β Establish and maintain a strong critical path from development to delivery
β Ensure deadlines are consistently met during sampling, production, and shipment phases
β Proactively identify and address any potential obstacles
3. Vendor Sourcing & Management
β Source, onboard, and manage small-batch premium womenswear manufacturers
β Develop a dependable vendor network that meets quality and design expectations
β Cultivate and sustain strong partnerships with tailors, pattern makers, and production teams
4. Costing & Commercial Viability
β Prepare precise costing sheets and ensure alignment with desired profit margins
β Balance creative design goals with commercial practicality
β Negotiate effectively with vendors to minimize costs without sacrificing quality
5. Quality Control
β Maintain high standards in garment fit, finish, and construction
β Monitor and enforce quality during both sampling and full production stages
β Implement rigorous quality checks to ensure brand consistency
6. Cross-functional Coordination
β Collaborate closely with design, production teams, and external freelancers
β Serve as the primary coordinator among all stakeholders involved
Required Qualifications
β Minimum of 4 yearsβ experience in womenβs ready-to-wear development or merchandising
β Strong background in premium or luxury womenswear is preferred
β Demonstrated capability to independently manage end-to-end product development
β Extensive knowledge of fabric sourcing, garment construction, and fit processes
β A solid network of vendors including factories, tailors, and sampling units is advantageous
β Highly organized with a strong sense of ownership and effective problem-solving skills
β Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment
