Guidewire Technical Lead – Australia and New Zealand
About this role
Tenzing is a leading Guidewire consultancy across Australia and New Zealand. A Guidewire Partner since 2007, we design and deliver complex, integrated solutions for public and private insurers across both self‑managed platforms and Guidewire Cloud.
We were recognised as the Guidewire APAC Consulting Partner of the Year for Outstanding Market Growth (2023/2024), reflecting our depth of expertise and strong client outcomes.
Our current focus includes large‑scale Guidewire Cloud migrations, greenfield implementations, and long‑running DevOps delivery teams. As part of the Tech Mahindra Group, we collaborate globally while maintaining a strong local consulting culture across ANZ.
We’re now growing our team of Guidewire Technical Leaders in Wellington, Auckland, and Sydney.
About the Role:
We’re seeking Senior Guidewire Technical Leads to provide hands‑on technical leadership across Guidewire implementation and cloud delivery programmes.
You’ll bring deep Guidewire platform expertise, strong architectural thinking, and the ability to lead delivery squads through complex design and technology decisions. This is a senior, credible leadership role - balancing technical ownership, stakeholder engagement, and team capability uplift.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Leading the technical design and delivery of Guidewire InsuranceSuite solutions across PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter and BillingCenter, including integrations and Guidewire Cloud services.
- Acting as the primary technical authority on Guidewire programmes, owning solution design, technical decisions, and risk management.
- Guiding development teams across configuration, extension, integration, customisation, and testing using Guidewire frameworks, standards, and best practices.
- Designing and overseeing integrations between Guidewire and external systems using modern, cloud‑aligned integration patterns (API‑based, messaging, file‑based, and event‑driven).
- Collaborating closely with client architects, business analysts, SMEs, delivery leads and QA to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
- Supporting Agile delivery through backlog refinement, estimation, sprint planning, and technical roadmap development.
- Mentoring developers and technical team members, supporting capability growth, knowledge sharing, and certification pathways.
- Driving continuous improvement across DevOps, testing automation, cloud enablement, and development practice.
Guidewire Experience & Technical Skills:
You’ll bring strong experience across much of the Guidewire ecosystem, including:
- Hands‑on senior or lead development experience across Guidewire InsuranceSuite
- Deep knowledge of Guidewire Cloud tools, environments, and deployment approaches
- Gosu and Java development, GUnit testing, PCFs, rules, messaging, and xCenter concepts
- Integration Gateway, App Events, and cloud‑compatible integration patterns
- CI/CD, version control, and observability tooling (e.g. Git, Bitbucket, TeamCity, Datadog or similar)
- Relevant Guidewire Cloud certifications across one or more core areas
How You’ll Work (Universal Guidewire Delivery Skills):
At Tenzing, we value strong technical capability alongside excellent consulting and delivery skills. You’ll demonstrate:
- Consulting and customer‑focused mindset - professional, clear communicator with a strong focus on delivering meaningful business outcomes and value for customers.
- Agile delivery and collaboration - proven experience working in Scrum or SAFe environments, collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
- Clear communication and influence - able to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Ownership, quality, and problem solving - takes accountability for outcomes, applies critical thinking to solve problems, and cares about building high‑quality, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
- Adaptable and future‑focused - resilient in changing environments and proactively adopts AI‑enabled tools to improve individual and team productivity.
