About this role

St. Luke’s School, a secular (non-religious), college-preparatory day school serving grades 5 through 12 in New Canaan, Connecticut, seeks an Academic Technologist to join its dynamic Technology Department. The team includes a Network Specialist, Systems Support Specialist, A/V Specialist, and two Academic Technologists. We foster a thoughtful, collaborative environment focused on addressing current needs while exploring new approaches for the future. This is a full-time, 12-month position.

St. Luke’s provides all students with school-managed devices, including Chromebooks in the earliest grades and MacBooks for all other students. The Technology Department supports a broad ecosystem spanning end-user devices, wireless networking, instructional technology tools, and enterprise systems. While team members maintain primary areas of responsibility, we operate with shared ownership and a strong emphasis on cross-training. This approach enables us to support one another, adapt to evolving needs, and continuously expand our collective expertise in service of teaching and learning.

The Academic Technologist partners with faculty to integrate technology in ways that enhance teaching and learning. The role requires flexibility, collaboration, and a strong commitment to supporting teachers, students, and staff. We follow a teacher-driven model, focused on understanding instructional goals, identifying opportunities for technology use, and providing guidance for effective implementation. Successful candidates demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn as the school’s needs evolve.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with faculty to design, deliver, and support technology-enhanced curricular experiences
  • Assume responsibility for key systems such as the Student Information System or Visitor Management system, based on experience and interest
  • Design and deliver training for faculty, including both planned professional development and responsive, just-in-time support; develop reusable instructional materials
  • Support faculty in effectively using classroom technology, including interactive display tools
  • Provide technology support and guidance to administrative and non-academic departments as needed
  • Lead or contribute to special projects, including project planning and coordination
