About this role
Sunreef Yachts, a global leader in the design and construction of luxury custom yachts, is expanding its operations in Ras Al Khaimah and is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Composite Engineer to join its growing shipyard team.
This role is ideal for candidates with a strong Mechanical Engineering background and proven experience in composite design and manufacturing, preferably within the marine industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the quality, performance, and efficiency of composite structures across high-value yacht projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models of composite structures and components
- Design plugs, molds, and tooling systems for production
- Prepare accurate 2D workshop drawings and technical documentation
- Provide technical support during yacht production and assembly
- Develop and optimize structural and construction solutions
- Define and refine lamination schedules for composite parts
- Review and validate structural integrity and design accuracy
- Coordinate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to ensure workflow efficiency and material readiness
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in composite design, analysis, or manufacturing
- Strong understanding of composite materials and structural behavior
- Proficiency in CAD software:
- SolidWorks (advanced surfacing required)
- Rhinoceros (Rhino 3D)
- Good command of English (written and spoken)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with composite manufacturing processes:
- Hand lay-up
- Vacuum infusion
- Knowledge of materials such as E-glass, carbon fiber, and core materials
- Experience in tooling design (plugs, molds, production tooling)
- Background in marine, aerospace, or automotive industries
- Familiarity with lamination drawings and schedules
- Strong problem-solving mindset and multidisciplinary collaboration ability
