About this role

Stanbridge University is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program as an Adjunct Instructor.

The successful candidate will provide instruction and laboratory-based learning experiences focused on adult occupational performance, rehabilitation, clinical reasoning, evaluation, and intervention strategies. Faculty members work closely with students to bridge classroom concepts and real-world clinical practice through hands-on learning, evidence-based instruction, and professional mentorship.

We welcome candidates from a variety of occupational therapy practice settings who are passionate about preparing the next generation of occupational therapists. Faculty with experience serving adult populations in rehabilitation-focused environments are encouraged to apply.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver engaging classroom and laboratory instruction in accordance with approved curriculum and course outcomes.
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences related to occupational performance, evaluation techniques, therapeutic interventions, adaptive equipment, and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Integrate evidence-based practice and current occupational therapy standards into instructional activities.
  • Promote clinical reasoning, professional judgment, and occupation-centered approaches to care.
  • Assess student performance through practical examinations, assignments, laboratory activities, and participation.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student learning and development.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and course documentation in accordance with university policies.
  • Collaborate with program leadership and faculty to support student success and curriculum quality.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, training activities, and accreditation-related initiatives as requested.
  • Foster a professional, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy (OTD, post-professional doctorate, or equivalent).
  • Current NBCOT certification.
  • Eligible for occupational therapy licensure in California.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of occupational therapy clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evaluating and treating adult populations.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to integrate evidence-based practice into instruction.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and learning management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with adult populations across rehabilitation, hospital, post-acute, outpatient, community-based, or related practice settings.
  • Experience treating individuals with neurological, orthopedic, medically complex, or functional mobility impairments.
  • Previous teaching, clinical instruction, fieldwork education, or mentorship experience.
  • Familiarity with graduate-level occupational therapy education and ACOTE standards.

Compensation

$47.00–$67.00 per hour
Compensation is based on education, experience, and qualifications.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly sits for extended periods.
  • Physical ability to perform program- or department-related duties.
  • Proficient in using electronic keyboards and office equipment.
  • Effective verbal communication via phone and in person.
  • Ability to read fine print, operate computers, and understand voices clearly.
  • Able to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing 10–25 pounds as needed.
