The Opportunity: AI Development Lead

We’re hiring an experienced AI Development Lead to help design and ship AI-powered capabilities across our platform. This is a highly hands-on role where you’ll directly build AI solutions while helping shape how AI integrates into our products and internal workflows.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys building quickly, experimenting pragmatically, and turning AI concepts into real-world features used by customers every day.

Location: San Diego, California (Hybrid)

The salary range for this role is approximately $110,000 - $140,000 USDper year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and location.

What You’ll Own

AI Product Development & Features

• Build and deliver AI-powered features within our dental practice management platform.
• Work on LLM-powered workflows including automation, documentation, and insight generation.
• Prototype quickly and iterate based on real user feedback and operational needs.

Technical Architecture & Integrations

• Design and implement APIs and services that enable AI capabilities across the platform.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and QA teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Help evolve backend infrastructure, data workflows, and cloud-based AI services.

Innovation & Operational Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and workflows using AI.
• Evaluate emerging AI tools, frameworks, and approaches that can deliver practical business impact.
• Contribute to the evolution of the company’s broader AI strategy within a fast-growing environment.

Who You Are

• Strong experience with Python and backend or API-focused development.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI or similar), prompt engineering, embeddings, and RAG workflows.
• Good understanding of AI/ML concepts, NLP, and modern AI orchestration workflows.
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous, and evolving environments.
• Strong execution and problem-solving skills with an interest in building practical AI applications rather than purely experimental projects.

Strongly Preferred

• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Docker, and microservices architectures.
• Experience in healthcare, dental software, or environments handling sensitive data.
