Intertek, a global leader in ATIC (Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification) Services, is actively looking for experienced Freelance Mechanical Inspectors to join our network of freelancers and support multiple ongoing projects across Norway(Oslo & Stavanger).Ā 

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical systems,

components, and equipment installed or fabricated for Oil & Gas projects meet the

required engineering standards, codes, and client specifications. This role involves

hands-on inspection activities across all project phases, from fabrication and

installation to pre-commissioning and final acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:

ā€¢ Perform inspection of mechanical systems, equipment, piping, and structural

components in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO).

ā€¢ Monitor and verify installation and fabrication activities on pressure vessels,

piping systems, tanks, rotating and static equipment.

ā€¢ Conduct dimensional checks, welding inspections, hydrostatic and pneumatic

tests.

ā€¢ Review and verify compliance of materials, certificates, and documentation (e.g.,

MTCs, test reports).

ā€¢ Supervise and verify equipment alignment, torqueing, and preservation

procedures.

ā€¢ Witness FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), SATs (Site Acceptance Tests), and

performance tests for mechanical equipment.

ā€¢ Participate in punch list walkdowns and ensure the timely resolution of non[1]conformities.

ā€¢ Coordinate with construction, engineering, and QA/QC teams to ensure project

quality requirements are met.

ā€¢ Ensure all inspections and testing are documented accurately and in compliance

with the ITP (Inspection and Test Plan).

ā€¢ Prepare daily/weekly inspection reports and maintain inspection records.

ā€¢ Support audits, client inspections, and third-party verification when required.

Preferred Certifications:

ā€¢ CSWIP / AWS / API 570 / API 510 / ISO 9712 (NDT levels)

ā€¢ HSE Certifications (e.g., BOSIET, H2S, etc.)
