Job Description: Estimator
Position Summary: The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other relevant documentation. The Estimator collaborates with various departments to develop comprehensive cost plans and ensures that all projects are completed within budgetary constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Review and assess cost estimates submitted by suppliers and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather essential project information.
- Prepare and maintain a database of cost information and historical data for use in future project estimates.
- Evaluate risk factors and develop mitigation strategies to manage potential cost overruns.
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members to ensure accurate and timely completion of estimates.
- Track and report on project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in estimating and construction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, cost management, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and methodologies.
- Proficient in estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar tools.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification in estimating (e.g., AACE, ASPE).
- Experience with project management software such as Procore, Primavera, or similar.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and related technologies.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
